US: Eng. Agronómica / Viticultura

Viticulturist - Full Time, Napa     $DOE

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    * Pest and disease monitoring across all estate vineyards in Napa County.  Will provide weekly reports and recommendations for treatment.
    * Develop and track seasonal spray program with the Vineyard Director within an IPM and monetary framework.
    * Assist in managing the spray program.  This will include writing work orders, scheduling equipment, purchasing materials, communicating with neighbors and winemakers regarding reentry intervals.
    * Monitor and report on phenology and grape maturity.
    * Assist in scheduling and implementation of maturity sampling prior to and during harvest.
    * Monitor vineyard nutrition and health via petiole sampling or soil sampling.  Will make recommendations for fertilizer applications with petiole data.
    * Perform and supervise vine water status measurements via leaf water potentials and visual analysis on a weekly basis.
    * Assist  in performing GPS measurements and GIS data management to enhance operational efficiency and precision management.
    * Assist the Director of Viticulture and Vineyard Supervisors in maintaining vineyard experiments, gathering data, and designing new ones.
    * The Viticulturalist will also directly supervise seasonal employees in gathering LWP readings and other viticultural data. 

QUALIFICATION/SKILLS:

    * B.S. in Viticulture or a related field with at least 2 years winery or vineyard experience.  Strong background in Viticulture, Enology and related areas including plant physiology, pest management, soils, plant nutrition, etc.
    * Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish.
    * Ability to work well within a team environment, while both working with and leading individuals in a respectful manner that is consistent with the company's values.
    * In addition to possessing strong technical skills, this position also requires computer skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/OTHER:

    * Must be willing to work flexible hours, including overtime, especially during frost season and harvest.  Able to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain.
    * Valid CA Drivers License with clean driving record; Able to lift 45 lbs. on occasion.
    * Must successfully complete post-offer pre-employment drug/alcohol testing.
