Details My Client, a Global Healthcare and Pharmaceutical company is seeking a Veterinary Pathologist on a permanent basis.
Responsibilities:
As a senior scientist you will conduct research to develop cutting edge technology for the functional imaging of disease. You will provide hands-on technical leadership to assess and interpret the efficacy and safety of novel imaging agents. You will work with a diverse team of scientists in a matrix organisation complimenting the work of assay development, chemistry, in-vivo imaging and imaging analysis specialists.
Essential functions:
- Responsible for designing experiments to demonstrate the efficacy of new molecular imaging agents based on project objectives.
- Execute the experiments as well as to direct the experimental work of junior members of the team.
- Analyse data and present results of research to all levels, including the project team and business leadership.
- Responsible for studies to identify and validate animal models appropriate for the evaluation of new imaging targets and imaging agents for cardiovascular, oncological and neurological disease.
- Assist in the design and interpretation of studies conducted in support of new compound development.
- Supervise necropsies and to evaluate tissue sections and clinical pathology data generated from discovery research, investigative toxicology and development toxicology studies in various species in support of oncology, cardiovascular and neurology programs
- Design, implement and report GLP toxicology studies performed by third parties.
- Plan and perform in-vivo safety and efficacy experiments to identify and validate new imaging targets in research projects.
- Develop the team's reputation through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
Qualifications:
- Veterinary Qualification with board certification in Veterinary pathology (ECVP, ACVP or RCPath), PhD (alone or in combination with one of the above) or have a PhD in a Life Science field with significant experience in Pathophysiology in a drug discovery research and development setting
- In the region of 3-5 year's experience in the gross and histologic evaluation of laboratory animals is desirable.
- In particular, significant experience and/or formal training in pathology & histological techniques
- Excellent attention to detail, be able to tolerate some repetitive work and be able to use microscopes.
- A broad interest in physiology and strong background in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular, oncological or neurological disease is vital.
- Good IT skills in addition to excellent communication, negotiation and time management skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills and report-writing abilities are essential.
Desired
- Applicants with academic or industrial pharmaceutical or functional imaging agent development experience with proven track records are particularly encouraged to apply.
