The FSA is the UK's independent food regulator, protecting public health by improving the safety of food and providing reliable information to consumers. We are now seeking an ambitious advocate for change who will play a key role in delivering the FSA's strategic aims.
As Veterinary Director you will have a prominent role in leading the FSA's involvement in animal disease outbreaks and the hygiene and safety of all livestock and poultry products, and will be Head of Profession for the FSA's veterinary team. You will represent the FSA by applying your veterinary skills in matters of public health, including meat hygiene across the UK, Europe and internationally.
Your role will include driving cultural and structural changes in the veterinary team at the FSA, introducing new ways of working.
Managing our Meat Hygiene and Veterinary Division, you will direct its day to day activities, which will involve leading a multi-disciplinary team of veterinarians, scientists and administrators, as well as providing expert advice across the organisation and beyond. You will work closely with our executive agency, the Meat Hygiene Service, based in York.
The role represents an excellent opportunity to raise your profile in a strategic setting. As a fellow or Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, you will combine professional credibility with an impressive track record of multi-agency and partnership working. You will have a strong understanding of the relevant legislation and also be an exceptional manager who can lead, motivate and engage people.
