Job Title: Country Agricultural Manager
Position Type: Full Time

Job Description:
Sithe Global Biodiesel (a subsidiary of Sithe Global Power LLC, a portfolio company of The Blackstone Group) seeks a senior agricultural executive to oversee oil palm development activities in East and West Africa. Position is to be filled immediately and will report directly to the CEO of Sithe Global while working closely with other company executives. The company is developing large oil palm plantations and associated state-of-the-art milling facilities in certain African countries. The company undertakes its commercial mission with strict adherence to best practice social and environmental standards. Projects will create sustainable employment in countries with chronic unemployment.

Position will assemble team and take overall responsibility for all strategic agriculture strategies, including land selection and acquisition, feasibility study management, seed and equipment selection and purchasing, recruitment of plantation and estate Managers, training programs, plantation development, out grower programs, sustainable production plans, social development programs and environmental compliance, all in accordance with international best practices and standards.

Candidate must be highly motivated and capable of operating in a dynamic business environment. Previous Management experience (private, not-for-profi t or government) is mandatory Experience with large commercial agriculture projects is also mandatory.

Experience and Skills:
Educational and practical background in agronomy and project management
Demonstrated successful leadership abilities
Must be a self-starter with excellent judgment and ability to think strategically
Experience with development of social impact programs
In -country working experience in Africa is a plus
Familiar with standards for sustainable oil palm development and production (RSPO)
