We are currently looking for an exceptional Assistant Winemaker for our Skylane Cellars facility.

POSITION SCOPE:
Under the general direction of the Winemaker, this position will be involved in all winemaking operations. Responsibilities include coordination and review of activities in the 45,000 barrel and 6,700,000 gallon stainless cellar, oversight assistance for all activities regarding quality assurance, maintaining records for all internal wine movements and other duties including but not limited to; juice and wine receiving and shipping, additions, fermentation, blending, filtering, stabilizing and bottling. This position is responsible for extensive cellar floor production tasting as well as more formal tastings to guarantee high quality standards. The candidate should look forward to working in an exciting, creative, fast paced environment and be adaptable and comfortable with change.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
• Oversight of daily cellar operations to meet production requirements and schedules.
• Creation of daily work orders and inventory control.
• Quality control management of cellars.
• Ongoing development/refinement of winemaking procedures.
• Operation and coordination of trial and actual blends.
• Determining juice and wine additions and treatments.
• Design/creation of experimental lots and coordination of analysis to substantiate results.
• Conducting educational tours and tastings as necessary.
• Participation in staff training and development including safety program compliance training.
• Utilize strong work ethic, detail orientation, skills and ability to work independently to achieve winemaking and production objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:
• BS degree in Enology, Fermentation Science or a related major
• Minimum of four years' of winemaking experience
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sound judgment and strong organizational skills, attention to detail that drives a quality and professional work ethic
• Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel)
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, especially during harvest. Spanish proficiency a plus.
• Clean DMV record
