A vacancy has arisen for the above position within the Trading Standards Service. The duties of the post involve the inspection of farms and other agricultural related primary production premises under Food Hygiene legislation and Animal Health and Welfare legislation. This will involve inspection of livestock, feed, equipment, inspection of records, the giving of advice, the taking of informal samples of feed stuffs, assisting in the carrying out of investigations with regard to breaches of the legislation and dealing with complaints and referrals.
The person appointed will have experience of livestock farming and production systems. They will be educated to A level standard or equivalent, an enforcement and/or agricultural background would be an advantage, as would an agricultural qualification.

Working in research teams within the Centre of Epidemiology and Risk Analysis at VLA, you will use GIS applications to increase understanding of animal and public health issues and provide scientific advice to help inform Government policy. This is a full-time, (may be suitable for two part-time staff if continuity could be arranged) permanent post in Pay Band D £23,150 - £32,100 per annum.
